The following policy is established and enforced regarding expecations, limits, and exceptions for Contributing Users on this website. This policy includes theological, informational, and copyright provisions, and all Registered Users must agree and Contributing Users must comply.
A Registered User is one who has created an account using the Registration form and has verified his account. A Contributing User is one who has requested contibution rights and been approved by the Webmaster or Site Administrator.
Registered Users must agree to the following:
- They will use the materials available to them in accordance with this site's policies, and in accordance with the Contributors' rules;
- They will not steal copyrighted materials for personal gain or take credit for the materials made available by Contributors;
- They will cite or give credit of copyrighted materials in accordance with the Contributors' rules;
- They are free to use public domain materials in any way that that complies to US or International Law.
Contributing Users must agree to the following:
- They will complete the Contirbutor's Profile page in their Account Settings before contributing any materials;
- They will provide clear wording regarding and rules regarding their sharing of materials;
- They will provide theologically sound materials for viewers in accordance with the Theology section of this policy;
- They will upload only permitted filetypes and file sizes as described in the Information section of this policy;
- They agree that their materials may be reviewed by the Webmaster or Site Administrator and removed if found to be in violation of policy;
- They agree that their account may be banned temporarily or permanently by the Webmaster or Site Administrator if found to be in continued violation of policy.
Rules regarding theology
A Contributing User must show to be:
- A rostered pastor, professor, or teacher (active or retired) in
- The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, or
- A church or church body in fellowship with the LCMS, or
- The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, or
- A church or church body in fellowship with the WELS, or
- A Confessional Lutheran church body which holds the same Formal and Material Principles as above.
Materials found to be theologically unsound or outside the general scope of confessional Lutheran teaching and doctrine will be removed. Contributors who continue to post such materials may be banned.
Rules regarding information
A Contributing User must comply to the following:
- Contributors may upload the following file types:
- Adobe PDF (Portable Document File) files
- Microsoft Word Document (doc or docx) files, but not template or macro-enabled Word documents
- Microsoft Powerpoint (ppt or pptx) files, but no macro-enabled presentations
- Generic RTF (Rich Text File) files
- PNG (Portable Network Graphics) files
- JPEG (Joing Photographic Experts Group) files (also JPG)
- BMP (bitmap) files
- GIF (Graphical Interchange Format) files
- MP3 (Moving Pictures Expert Group, type 3) audio files
- MP4 (Moving Pictures Expert Group, type 4) video files*
- *Contributors wishing to upload video files are STRONGLY encouraged to embed or link to videos hosted offsite rather than uploading. However, it is possible to upload video files with the mp4 filetype of less than the established maximum filesize.
- The MAXIMUM FILE SIZE is 10 MB and this limit is strictly enforced.
- Contributors are each alloted a maximum of 150 MB. Once this maximum is reached, a Contributor must remove materials in order to upload more.
- Contributors have the option of using their own Microsoft or Google Cloud space for storing files. This feature can be setup in the Account Settings page.
- Contributors are expected to be thoughtful regarding words and language used in their materials. Profanity should be at a minimum. Lewd or pornographic materials will not be permitted and any contributor who posts such material will be immediately and permanently banned.
Rules regarding Copyright
A Contributing User must comply to the following:
- No copyrighted materials may be uploaded to this server without consent from the copyright holder;
- A Contributor's material is protected by Copyright law by virtue of being created by the individual person. In order to formally assure protection under US or International copyright laws, the contributor should register his material through whatever means established by law. While a contributor's material is technically protected by copyright, if there is no proof of original authorship, it would be difficult to prove his case in a court of law;
- any works or materials created by the Contributor, if not registered with US or International copyright agencies, while still technically protected, shall not be assured of protection by merely being posted on this website;
- A Contributor should clearly articulate his intent for copyright and materials use in his Account Profile page. But he should also understand that whatever he uploads may be used by others. Thus, his usage policy should be one of fairness and should be as laxed as possible;
- Embedded videos or audio files and their respective copyright policies are maintained by the companies who physically host or store the files and not by Lutheran Sermons or this website;
- Contributors who provide materials from other sources or copyright holders should attribute said materials through a bibliography or citation.
